Coimbatore : Two drunkard men created a ruckus near Saibaba colony after they entered into an argument with the traffic police on duty and even prostrated on the middle of the road by way of registering their condemnation on vehicle checks.

According to sources, Palani and Murthy of Rathinapuri area were proceeding in their two wheeler without wearing helmets towards Saibaba Colony. A traffic police stopped them and demanded documents such as license, insurance and RC book. During the check, the traffic police found them to be an inebriated state and questioned them.

The duo protested and lay prostrate on the road and created flutter in the area. They alleged that Police have been acting partial when it comes to vehicle checking.

"The policemen fail to stop over speeding buses and posh cars, they only target people in two-wheelers", the duo complained. As they were in an inebriated state, they were taken away by the police. The act by the drunkard men created chaos in the area for a brief time.

Commenting on the incident, Advocate Pratap who was present at the spot said “Even though the police carry out regular checks on two wheeler riders, they are turning a blind eye to the private bus operators who are in the habit of flouting every norm in the book. The private bus operators are guilty of over speeding, overloading, not plying on time, and using high-decibel air horns. They drive in a rash manner threatening the lives of the other road users."

“The traffic police should check their lawlessness like they do in the case of two wheeler riders and other vehicles to restore ease of traffic in the city", the advocate opined.
